NO INTERNET!! AARGH!
It's been almost 2 weeks n there's been no internet connection at our place..that's why i've been MIA. But anyway, it hasn't been that eventful. We just ended 2 shows of Swan Lake in Hanam city last weekend. It was the most laid back city we've visited so far..really old place and quiet, like a village so the audience wasn't that huge as u can imagine.. We have 2 more Swan Lakes this Sat and Sun in Yangsan city and that's a 6 hour bus journey away so we're staying in a hotel there from Wednesday onwards. That's gonna be interesting...hehe..

Insadong and Myongdong!
On Day 2 of my off day, we went to Insadong. It's the street we visited last year when we went on the half day tour. We remembered there were alot of nice things to look at and plenty of good food selling on the streets and we checked the tour2korea website and they recommended a few good restaurants there too. So we went there again...ooh there were so many nice intricate accessories. I couldn't stop to look cos i knew i'd be tempted to buy so i just feigned ingnorance and walked on with foo..but boy was i tempted to wanna stop n buy! So we had lunch at this restaurant where they served the biggest dumplings i've ever seen they were like the size of a guinea pig? they were good..the rest we ordered were good too. While eating, I heard something really familiar coming from 2 tables away..it was singlish! cos this girl was speaking so loudly to the waitress in her mixture of english and chinese and lahs n lors n exclaiming so loudly that she was from singapore.haha! but their english n mandarin were so bad foo din even noe whether they were speaking english or mandarin..now i'm pretty proud of myself that my mandarin n english is pretty good, unlike them..hehe
So i was a good girl din buy anything, but we had the grilled chicken sticks and the pancakes filled with honey n peanuts and this traditional court cake with peanut filling. Yeah i spilled food all over my t-shirt..like i always do. So foo is really getting to noe the real me the more time he spends with me..like i'm a messy eater, always spilling food on myself n i'm a klutz, like i'm always bumping my head into things on just banging into things.
Ok so the icing on the cake is i got to see my dad! yup he's here again so i went to his hotel to have dinner with him..and brought my sandwich maker home. So now i can have toasted sandwiches n grilled food here! haha!
So Day 3 was good too..went to my dad's hotel in the morning before he left for the airport. Then i met Foo at Myongdong. So we had great Don Katsu there with lotsa meat instead of lotsa flour. Then we went shopping..haha.foo did most of the shopping i was his companion and it takes lots of patience to be his shopping companion.haha! but it was cool to see someone else spend money instead of spending myself.hehehe... the weather turned cold again n it started to rain. I was in just a t-shirt and we had no brollies we had to brave the rain..anyway we had some beef soup that had cow-s blood in it..hmm...i tried but i dun think i enjoy that so i gave them all to foo which he loves.hee.. It was great fun shopping and eating though i've been telling myself to cut down on the eating cosi need to put on a unitard for performance on sunday! hai...2 more days to lose abeeeeet...
sigh...3 glorious days passed so quickly.i cant believe it..time really flies when u're having so much fun...sigh...more swans...

The Children's Grand Park!!
We spent Day 1 of our days off at the children's grand park just beside our company. We decided to explore it cos there're always so many people there. It's really huge! There's an amusement park there where we can take thrill rides! We went on the rollercoaster and played bumper cars! Rollercoaster was cool with the 360 upside-down thrill..bumper cars was hilarious cos according to foo i nearly bumped a girl out of her car! hee...that's why it's called bumper car wat.oops!
See how exciting this ride is..Foo is soooo excited! muahaha!
There's the huge ferris wheel and part of the rollercoaster in the background..we feel like kids again!!!
See he really enjoys in though it moves at bout 1cm/s? haha!
Haha! crayon boy! i miss watching the cartoon in CHINESE! actually i miss watching anything not in korean!! cute eh...doesn't his eyebrows remind u of someone by the name of 'handsome' in chinese? hehe

There was an adventure playground as well so we rediscovered our childhood once more!! ha..we lost out on the swings to the little girl..cannot help it. it's the CHILDREN's grand park..so everything's for kids, we were too heavy and our legs were too long!

Caveman Foo emerging from his cave!! heehee...
We're still super young at heart hee..anyway there's a zoo in the park too but not very fantastic. Definitely cannot compare with our amazing one back in SG. This one has like 2 lions, 1 bear a few pigs, sheep, goats, peacocks, super-ugly farting turkeys...erm..that's bout it i think. Then there's a botanical garden, a dinosaur park that u have to pay to go into and huge fountains and definitely lots of huge open grass space for picnics and lying around. Nice place!
Then we went to technomart for dinner and we watched our first movie there! Spiderman 3! was pretty cool, quite liked it though i'm not so hot with tobey maguire, thought 'harry osborn' in the movie was cuter though.hee

Choon Hyang Pictures!
Costumes for choon hyang are all traditional korean style..this one's for prayer..
OMG! my face is so chubby right not..i look like i've got 2 baos on my face...yikes!

Winter snow costume..nice costume but horrible piece to dance in..super fast and tiring..thank goodness it's over

Kiseang costume..kiseang is the korean version of prostitutes? like geishas in japan? yup that's it..apparently these kiseang costumes are really really expensive..

hee..kiseang janice with bureaucrat foo...his beard is cute eh?
Ok moral of story is i've grown fatter.. rejoice! haha..my face never looked so chubby ever since i left VJC. But...i cant wear a few of my jeans and berms now..meaning either i lose the weight or i have to buy new ones...hmm dilemma..

Post-performance dinner treat at Korean BBq restaurant!
Premiere of Choon Hyang performance 4th-6th May!!!
Finally ‘Choon Hyang’ performance is over! We’ve been at the theatre since 24th april and the performance is finally over today! It’s the world premiere of this Korean folk story ballet and it was also the opening of the ARAM Opera House in city of Ilsan. Ilsan is an hour’s bus journey from Seoul, so we take the chartered bus and go there in the morning and then class and rehearsals are all held at the theatre. It’s been a really long and tiring 2 weeks getting the ballet together. We finish late at night and then it’s another hour back to seoul. Well, Foo got to explore the city more than I did so I’m just gonna describe the city according to him. The city’s very new, bout 10yrs old only. There’re plenty of shopping malls and lots of fastfood.hee.. Nice and happening city with lots of activities besides shopping..there’s a big square where they rent out bikes and roller blades and miniature motorbikes that we wanted to try, but thanks to me, we couldn’t cos I was always stuck in the theatre. Too bad I din get to walk around the city abit which I really wanted..
Performance went really well, all 3 nights were sold out I think. The theatre was filled right to the 4th level and the audience was really warm. They clap a lot and they would laugh and react with the ballet. Curtain calls feel o good cos they’re so warm and supportive, cheering and clapping non-stop. It sure feels good to be so well-received and appreciated. Going front n back during calls 4 or 5 times feels so good, nothing I’ve experienced in sg before..cos by the 2nd time usually the clapping would’ve subsided and would’ve been embarrassing if we continued in sg.
I’m glad choon hyang is finally over. The quick changes of costumes in the piece was driving me mad. There’ve been ups and downs during the rehearsals for me, in fact more downs cos I’m the ‘new kid on the block’ so some Korean/russian mean bitches decide to throw their weight around me. Well, I survived so far and I’m still sane thanks to foo letting me offload on him. Feels better having someone to talk to. So thanks a lot foo!!
We’ve got 3 days off after the performance cos we’ve obviously been working so hard.haha! we haven decided wat to do yet but I’m just so happy! But after this break it’s back to more swan lake.hai….more opportunities for Korean mean bitches to breathe down my neck.argh! it’s ok, not thinking bout that yet..shall look forward to my 3 days off..
