Romeo & Juliet season October 23-26

So October we were busy with Romeo & Juliet at the Opera House. The theatre brought back memories of last year when we performed there with the Singapore Dance Theatre on tour. We were in the smaller theatre, Towol Theatre last year but this time we were in the main theatre.

I was looking forward to this ballet cos it's always been my favourite dramatic ballet and the music by Prokofiev is so beautiful. Sad to say, this version of R n J kinda sucks..bad time. Such a big disappointment. Choreography is so awful, the balcony pas de deux is such a big disappointment that i dun even wanna harp on it..costumes are ahem..u can see for urself, starting from the men's wigs.. anyway, enjoy the pictures.. This production is to celebrate Oleg Vinogradov's 70th birthday. Oleg is the Director of the company who hardly is around cos he's based in Washington D.C. He's russian, really famous in Russia, big name cos he was the director of the Kirov Ballet for many years. Yup that's his story, our ballets swan lake, sleeping beauty, nutcracker and this R n J are all choreographed by him, same versions that the Kirov perform.
I'm a capulet and Foo is one of Romeo's friends. All the boys have to wear blonde wigs. So ugly, foo 'loves' his hair! luckily the girls dun have to wear ugly wigs, we only had to go perm our hair cos we all had to have curls. Best of all, the company gives us money to curl our hair. haha..but now all UBC girls have the same hairstyle..

Act 2 1st carnival. We've to wear masks for most of this ballet, terribly annoying especially if u cant see anything on stage and it keeps pressing on ur nose n makes ur nose flatter and hinders ur breathing...aargh..

oleg's 70th bday. he was dressed up in traditional korean drab..euw...i wouldn't do that for any of my birthdays, esp when so many guests are around. Guess he just loves korea..

We went chilling out at The Bungalow at itaewon on the first night of choo Sok. These pics are long over due but still fun to look. We drank whisky with coke and beer. Haha..my face always turns red with just a little alcohol.

Korean Thanksgiving, Choo Sok, 4 days holiday!

Since it was Korean Thanksgiving we also wanted to have a good dinner to celebrate it and it's so rare that we get such a long break here and our company usually makes us work on public holidays so we just had to let our hair down n celebrate!!
We had dinner at a very good Italian restaurant, Antonio's in Apgujeong. Pasta and pizza were so good, felt like i wasn't in korea for a moment.

Xuewei and wanrou joined us for dinner too.

Foo and I had fantastic chinese dinner. It was so good i was jumping in my seat the whole time, then we went to star city to take a walk cos we ate too much. This was taken outside a teddy bear shop there.

We decided we wanted to get out of Seoul for a day so we went to Mt Everland. We wanted to go to the aquapark, Carribean Bay.

Finally, after train n an hour's bus ride we arrived in Everland!

In korea, everytime u hit the pools u've to wear swimming caps.so annoying...

chilling out with beers n drinks! we're so lucky to have great weather!
The wave pool! it's so cool..but so many people so u've to be very careful you dun hit anyone when the wave comes.

Everland Park, we'll go there next time when there's not too many people and when we've a break again, which i foresee will not be too soon..
